Myth No. 1 – Pawn shops knowingly buy and sell stolen items

At all five Tom’s Pawn Central locations, we hold items purchased directly from customers for up to 11 days. For all transactions, sellers must also provide their name, address, contact information and a valid photo ID. All items are then entered into a system that allows all Georgia law enforcement to review them for reported stolen items. YOU MUST REPORT YOUR STOLEN ITEM FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT. With the amount of inventory that comes through all five stores only 1% of those items are reported stolen. Our guess is not many criminals want to give their information and be found so quickly.
