How it started
Tommy and Jay started with a business relationship. Jay was installing carpet inside Tommy’s stores and when the job was done, Jay invited Tommy on his first quail hunt. From there a great friendship was formed and the hunting trips began. Before Jay’s passing, he called Tommy and asked him to visit him in the hospital. When Tommy arrived, Jay was already making plans for their next quail hunting trip.
That week Jay passed. Tommy immediately knew the perfect way to honor Jay and keep his giving heart and a tradition alive. That is when the Jay Bowen Foundation was formed as an annual quail hunting event with a dinner and auction that ends each event. All the money raised goes to the less fortunate children in our community.

Having this event annually is important to family and friends because it keeps Jay’s traditions alive. This may be the only time a lot of these hunters get together and quailhunt for the year. Which goes to show how much Jay meant to everyone.
We believe he is smiling down at each event. Seeing family and friends together having a great time outdoors raising money for a great cause. Tommy believes if Jay were here he would be right there doing everything, helping hand in hand.
Our next Jay Bowen Foundation Quail Hunt will be on February 4th at Beaver Creek Plantation. We hope everyone marks their calendar and we see them there.
